Yathelalina are naturally flight capable due to the four wings on their backs. In contrast their legs are weak, not able to support much more that their own weight and unable to run anything more that a short distance. Yathelalina do posses two sets of arms and two sets of eyes, allowing for greater vision in their fronts and sides.
Yathelalina grew from swamp dwelling insectoids native to the southern hemisphere of Ooi. Climate change killed many competing species 40 million years ago, allowing the more adaptable ancestors of the yathelalina to spread out. Anatomically modern yathelalina appeared 50,000 years from the present day.
